U.S. hits cap on temporary work visas as employers seek 11 million workers

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on May 18 the availability of 35,000 additional H-2B visas, or temporary nonagricultural worker visas, for businesses "that are suffering or will suffer impending irreparable harm" without the ability to hire non-citizen workers. On May 25, just one week later, USCIS announced it had reached its cap for visas designated for returning H-2B workers, which make up a majority of the total number of additional visas.
